Fairbanks Alaska

Fairbanks, Alaska is located in the interior of Alaska about 6 hours north of Anchorage. It is considered a desert which is something few people have heard. The winter can be extremely cold with temperatures reaching -60 degrees Fahrenheit. The good news is, that our houses are warm and it never stays that cold for long.

The summers are wonderful with temperatures often in the 70's and 80's and 24 hour daylight. You can imagine how active we get after seven months of winter! The city has a wonderful local vibe and when visiting you will find most locals to be very friendly.

Here are some fun facts about Fairbanks

  • It was originally a gold mining town after E.T. Barnette discovered Gold near the Chena River
  • The city was incorporated in 1903 with Barnette as its first mayor.
  • It was named after Senator Charles Fairbanks
